Years 5 & 6 have made a Baba Yaga picture using adjectives based on the music ‘The hut on chickens legs’ and ‘Music that paints a picture’ by Mussorgsky. We all drew what we thought Baba Yaga and her hut would look like. We also made a piece using tuned and untuned instruments based on Baba Yaga and her scary hut on chicken’s legs. We used a range of instruments including triangles, guitars, tambourines and glockenspiels. We worked in groups then we put it together and made a piece as a whole class. Finally, we recorded it.
Wordless posters
Our class was split into groups and we all had a topic based on global issues around the world. We were given large pieces of paper to draw a picture based on our topic. We weren’t allowed to use any words at all; we just had to draw the picture. The topics that we chose were: -Vandalism-Pollution-Theft-PovertyThe posters were based on the music ‘Pardon me for interrupting’ which was composed by Bartok – Intermezzo Interrotto.
Class compositionYears 5 and 6 made a class composition. We used instruments such as guitars, drums, tambourines, wood blocks, triangles, glockenspiels and cymbals. One group played throughout and other groups joined in. We were working on Mussorgsky’s piece called ‘The hut on chickens legs’ and John Adams’ ‘Short ride in a fast machine’. We made textured pictures of fast machines such as cars, aeroplanes and boats. Everyone in years 5 and 6 were given a theme which was ‘spooky’. Our class composition was called ‘Body Beats’.
